Gravel Riding


Craftsbury’s network of gravel roads provide many low-traffic, scenic loops for cycling, whether you are looking for a quick chance to get outside or a long adventure. Make sure to stop in at the general stores and restaurants along the routes to support local businesses and make the most of your ride!

Please follow all rules of the road. Bike on the right side of the road, wear bright colors, and bike in single file. Be respectful of the your neighbors along the route. Learn more at NEK Gravel.

The routes suggested below have been reviewed by local riders. Parking access is listed with the route and is from Dustan Field in Craftsbury Common, WonderArts Greenspace in Craftsbury Village or roadside in East Craftsbury. For locals, the routes can also be accessed from neighborhoods and homes along the way.

Beer Run/Ride

16.3 Miles • 1,343 ft Climbing

Access: East Craftsbury

Ride from Craftsbury to Greensboro with a quick stop in to Hill Farmstead Brewery. Be sure to bring your wallet if the brewery is open and give yourself some time to taste, sip and rest or refuel with snacks from Willey’s Store in Greensboro. There are hills, farms and views galore.


Craftsbury to Albany and Back

20.4 miles • 2,067 ft Climbing

Access: Dustan Field

This loops gets you out to the far flung and wooded western side of town. High on the Albany Road, be prepared to traverse some wet areas. Stop at the Albany Genny for refueling.


A Loop Around Caspian

20.4 miles • 1,682 ft Climbing

Access: WonderArts Greenspace

A relatively less hilly route around some of the gems of the Craftsbury region. Enjoy the scenic and rideable Class IV roads and stop in at Willey's Store in Greensboro for a bite to eat or stop in at one of the Craftsbury stores for a post-ride snack.


Quarter Century

26.5 miles • 2,154 ft Climbing

Access: Dustan Field

This route takes you past the COC and on to the hills and lakes of East Albany and West Glover. Stop in at Parker Pie for a mid-ride pizza or wings, or grab a snack from the Lake Parker General Store.


Half Century

49.1 miles • 5,024 ft Climbing

Access: Dustan Field

Combining some of the finest riding in Craftsbury, Albany, Glover and Greensboro, this 50 miler has plentiful challenge but also plentiful views. Stop in at the Albany Genny or Parker Pie to fuel on your ride.
